SAMPICKS Review
SAMPICKS.COM is a football backing service that gives match bets on a variety of leagues.
The bets are not just picked out by a human like with most services; instead they are also picked by a computer generated analysis system, which takes into consideration up to 14 parameters for each of the picks they provide.
So far this method according to the website has given them a decent strike rate and they have managed to turn a profit every month since they started in August 2008, which is impressive considering the average odds are in the 1.6 – 1.8 region.
Picks wise there is plenty of action every month with around 20 picks, give or take a few.
Stakes are advised at 10% of the bank for one month and adjusting it the next month, so say for example in January you started with a £1000 bank your stake would be £100. If at the end your bank was £1500 then you would divide this by 10 which would give you your new stake for the month of £150.
This method should be quite safe if their past results continue but personally I would probably use 5% as the stake not 10%, because if you have 10 losing bets in a row it could wipe out your bank. This of course is very unlikely to happen given the past results and the average odds, but if you are a cautious gambler like me 5% would be more suitable.
They also give free picks, which do quite well from what I have seen and can be followed simply by viewing the websites free picks section. This is a great way of proving themselves to people without you having to sign up or ask for a free trial and allows potential subscribers to get a feel of the service while deciding if it is for them or not.
SAMPICKS has been very helpful and co operative with this review and have shown us they are dedicated to giving good customer service. They notified us that they have discovered through a forum that some people are not happy they don’t offer odds when the bet is sent due to the difference the bookies offer, so they corrected this and now also send the odds in the newsletter for each pick.
They also discovered that some users were not happy that they don’t update the results day after day and instead do it at the end of the month once they have the strike rate etc worked out, so they are going to adjust this as well either for members or on the tip history page.
The above two issues were not really big problems as it takes 2 seconds to check odds and you would get the odds anyway when you placed your bet, and there are tons of results websites for people to keep a record of results themselves which you should do when gambling seriously anyway, but Sampicks are still sorting them out which shows they care. In an email to us they stated...
“We are trying to run a very clean service and adjust according to our members requirements, after all at 15 EUR per month is obvious that we can't afford to run a scam because we have to win from renewals of subscriptions in a long period of time.”
This is a very true, anyone that offers a cheap service has to be effective and care or they simply will lose members making the whole process of setting up the service pointless. A lot of people seem to be under the impression nowadays that if a service is cheap it will be rubbish, and if it is expensive it will be good. In most cases this is not true! Many of the expensive ones are expensive simply because they rely on people signing up for one month to make their money, if members leave they don’t really care because they have already had a fair bit of coin from you and there will likely be more people signing up.
The old saying “You get what you pay for” although true in some circumstances, is NOT ALWAYS TRUE, especially in the tipping world and you should definitely give the cheap services as much of a chance as the expensive ones. (For ways of spotting a potentially good tipster from a bad one, regardless of price, see our article HERE)
We will continue to monitor Sampicks for at least the next 30 days, longer if they allow us and I hope all goes well.
Results will be posted on a spread sheet HERE, if you need software to view the spreadsheet you can download excel viewer free from the Microsoft site HERE
UPDATE
Well the review of Sampicks is now up and these are my thoughts.
I will start by saying that he people at Sampicks are honest to a fault! There were a couple of times when I made errors on the results sheet and had put down a losing bet as a winning bet, and Sampicks emailed to tell us, there was also an email with a losing pick that we didn’t see, but Sampicks notified us of the bet and asked us to add it even though it lost, so there is no doubt they are very honest team.
Profit wise, both months finished with profit and although not a huge amount it is still profit and they are consistent with most months making money which is the whole idea. Any profit is good profit! Also the price is cheap so the membership fee won’t really affect profits much.
I also have to point out that on the 9th march they changed tipsters and results improved after a nasty start.
The way Sampicks works is a group of tipsters put what they consider good bets in to the SAM software and then the software analyses these bets and picks the best ones based on its analysis. Apparently the tipsters before the 9th were not dedicated enough anymore so they found some more.
My overall summary of Sampicks is that it is a nicely priced and reliable service that will make you a bit of extra cash most months, or if you are a high stakes professional gambler you could even make a nice income from it. Therefore we are happy to recommend this service based on our findings as a worthwhile addition to anyone’s betting portfolio and have awarded them the BSUncovered APPROVED badge!
It would have been nice to review them for another month but to be honest there is not much point; they have easily proved themselves and their honesty so to check out any future results just visit their website over at www.sampicks.com
